Premiere of VHS / Pointless Geometry Cassettes – Bartosz Zaskórski – Wsie

An audio-visual instalation in Sokołowsko during the Sanatorium Dźwięku 2017 festival 19- 20.08.2017

During the two days of Sanatorium Dźwięku Festival we will make an attempt to transport Bartosz Zaskórski’s audio-visual imaginary field research into everyday life of Sokołowsko. In a few more or less obvious places of the town’s topography you will be able to encounter TV sets with randomly selected VHS projections of the Villages. We hope that this additional change of context will allow the viewer to delve into the absurdity of the “lands” created by Zaskórski, and deepen the feeling of isolation of the Villages (Sokołowsko included) from the real world.

A made-up research on the made-up villages conducted using made-up and undefined methodology. The word „village” is here a tentative (in terms of possible associations connected with the word) starting point: the village turns out to be an isolated realm, studied by an invisible researcher, whose reality is defined by the inhabitants’ fixations. Project done in the Laboratory for Literature Interpretation of Grzegorz Hańderek, PhD., in 2014-2015. The films were displayed at Mlode Wilki 2014 festival and at the following exhibitions: Zmyślenie (CSW Kronika, Bytom), Mocne stąpanie po ziemi (BWA Katowice, BWA Tarnow, 2015) and Co ukryte (State Art Gallery, Sopot, 2015).
